Why Gratitude ?
If we talk in scientific terms neuroscience says that when you are thankful and have a sense of gratitude dopamine and serotonin neurotransmitters are released in your brain. What are these neurotransmitters? Neurotransmitters are often referred to as the body’s chemical messengers. They are the molecules used by the nervous system to transmit messages between neurons, or from neurons to muscles.
The feel-good neurotransmitter is dopamine, which will make you feel good and makes you want more. When you binge on your favourite pizza or involve in activities of interests, your brain releases dopamine making you feel happy and gratified which works as reward mechanism.
On the same note serotonin is a neurotransmitter which is considered happy chemical, stimulates the happiness centre of your brain. This can be comparable to how anti-depressants work. Serotonin is a chemical that has far reaching functions in the human body. If there is any chemical that contributes to your overall wellbeing and happiness, that’s Serotonin.
There are many different types of emotions that have an influence on how we live and interact with others. Among various emotions which we go through Gratitude is a very powerful emotion. Gratitude will influence and enhance the quality of your life in countless ways.
When you have sense of gratitude it’s impossible to feel low or depressed in life.
Having a journal of gratitude will guide you to move towards positive energies of life. A simple act of writing a gratitude journal has many advantages and benefits.
Various studies on the effects of gratitude have proved that people who write gratitude journal regularly are happier, have good health, they sleep well and always have optimistic view of the world. And most importantly they become more focused on life energies and make great progress towards their goals.
