Holly Holm Starts Career With Aerobics, Ends Up Beating Ronda Rousey

By wochit 05 October 2016

Holly Holm caught destiny in the corner of her eye. Just out of high school, the multi-sport athlete was taking aerobics in her hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico, with an instructor who also taught kickboxing. According to Mashable, she said in her official biography that she started aerobics to keep in shape. She then saw the kickboxing class, and thought it looked "pretty cool." Some 15 years later, she walked into the UFC 193 octagon in Melbourne, Australia, with the perfect blend of experience and slashing, striking fighting style. There, she whipped Ronda Rousey. When Holm woke up Saturday, she was a hopeless underdog, just the latest sacrificial offering to Rousey's growing world fame. But by the time she went to bed that night, she was the first person in history — man or woman — to be an undisputed champion in both boxing and UFC. Despite that Holm was 9-0 in UFC and a highly decorated boxer, no one saw this coming.
