High-Protein Diets May Not Improve Health

People who are trying to lose weight often opt for a high-protein diet, which is thought to help people feel full. But new research shows that while such diets may help reduce a person's weight, they don't always help make people healthier. A small study conducted at the Washington University School of Medicine found that women on a weight-loss diet lost the same amount of weight as women on a similar diet with added protein. What's more, the women who ate the extra protein showed no change in their insulin sensitivity, which doctors say is a key indicator of overall health.
