Are Solo founders not taken seriously by the startup sphere? 5 Productivity Hacks for Solo Founders

Most startup accelerators strongly encourage entrepreneurs who apply to find a co-founder. While none of them ban solo founders from their programs, they are vocal about their desire to work with teams.

but the data reveals that solo founder companies actually stay in business longer than multi-founder companies and they start with substantially less money because venture capitalists won’t fund them as strongly.

Starting a business can be difficult all alone. You may however feel much comfortable starting a business with a co-founder but it's not a smart decision always. We’re all different, the very first lesson every founder has to learn is that people, even your closest ones, won't always understand (or agree with) what your big dream is.

Of course, a co-founder can complement your skillset and speed up the process of building a business but don’t expect they will be on the same page and perhaps not share the same work ethic as you. Finding the right co-founder is challenging if you decide to lead the front, be prepared for all the success and failures. Bringing vision to the life you need to be accountable, motivated, and productive especially when you’re working alone.

Goal Setting

Goals need not be always about the big stuff – Be prepared to take the small steps and be accountable for them every day. Some tasks may look like a mission impossible, way too big, and unachievable. The trick is to break down your goals into small tasks daily. Many people give up in the early days.

Write down a list of tasks and prioritize them. Sort out your goals for each day, week, and month. You will be able to track results & learn from my successes and failures. Work out realistic plans, don't just start with 20 tasks per day that you won't be able to meet, start with 3-5 daily goals, stay committed and gradually increase the number of tasks.

Pair up with your business partner If you're finding it hard to stay focused on your goals, consider the other person is staying focused and getting things done, and meeting targets.

Do the Most Important Things First

Work out on the important things you've been putting off for quite some time. Commit to yourself that once you begin the day – do the important things first. Considering reading the book called Eat the Frog. Necessarily, it doesn't even have to be business-related. Keep your body and mind clear, do it the first in the morning.

The funny thing is that such tasks usually take a short period to actually get done, but we keep torturing ourselves for weeks, or even months and years.

Work on Your Ideas for at least 10 Minutes a Day

Working as a solo founder is tricky when juggling many projects at a time. And especially when you still didn't quit your job, can take a lot of your time and energy. By the end of the day, you feel so exhausted you just don't feel like it?

Start working on your ideas for only 10 minutes a day, it will seem achievable and easy to do. The frame is something that sounds manageable and that you can stick to, so it takes the whole pressure off.

The exciting part about this concept is that there is a pretty big chance that you will continue working even after your 10 minutes are over. We often don't realize that the actual job that needs to be done is rarely the problem - the starting part is.

Have a Clear Morning Routine

When you wake up in the morning and know what to do throughout the day is half the battle won.

Running out through the days with mayhem seems 24 hours running out of time. Morning routine will help you set the tone for the day and will allow you to control your schedule, rather than having it the other way around. Tweak your routine until you achieve the maximum output. It will have a massive impact on all areas of your life.

Connect with like-minded people

Working solo does not mean that you're completely left to your own. Connecting with like-minded people will boost your creativity and help you to finally get where you want and need to be. It is particularly important to experience and try out different things. Get along with people you can learn, read, and listen to podcasts share ideas, and enjoy good times.

We have data and a long list of successful solo founders that proves otherwise. We need to stop telling our single entrepreneurs that they can’t do it alone.
